Tom Arnswald
is a 29 year veteran of the Chicago Fire Department (CFD) and holds the rank of Captain. Tom currently serves
the CFD as an emergency medical technician (EMT) and is certifi ed in CPR, fi rst aid and other health and safety response skills.
Tom has trained and certifi ed hundreds of people working in a variety of industries including construction. According to the
American Heart Association, only 6% of sudden cardiac arrest victims survive "because the vast majority of those witnessing
the arrest are people who do not know how to perform CPR."
Daniel Bulley
, LEED
®
AP. In addition to his role at MCA, Bulley serves as an offi cer of the Chicago Chapter of the U.S. Green Building
Council and is an advisor for several other sustainability groups. He has taught LEED
®
study courses for many different groups
including multiple government entities. Bulley is a mechanical engineer and past President of the Illinois Chapter of ASHRAE.
Ginnie Floraday
has been consulting and teaching in the computer fi eld for over 20 years, working with MCA for the past seven
years. Corporate training in the Microsoft Offi ce Suite, and database development in Microsoft Access are her two main areas
of expertise. She conducts both group and one-on-one training at the clients' sites. She has developed several hundred custom
Microsoft Access database applications. Upon delivery of the application, custom training includes instruction on how to
design queries and additional reports. It is her philosophy that clients should have control over their computer creation.
Training is the vehicle used to achieve this end.
Edward ("Ned") B. Gibble
, P.E. has his own consulting business, specializing in management consulting, project management and
design-build facilitation for mechanical contractors. Ned's credentials include design engineer, project manager, design-build
manager, VP of design-build and industrial profi t centers, VP of operations, executive VP and president/COO of McClure Company,
a major mechanical contractor. During his tenure as president,McClure Company was selected as "Contractor of the Year" by
Contractor Magazine and also won MCAA's E. Robert Kent Award for Management Innovation on Productivity Improvement.
Richard A. Hegberg
, PE, is an independent consulting engineer for control systems, hydronic systems, and testing and balancing of
HVAC systems. He has spent more than 40 years in application and systems engineering for Powers Regulator Co., Bell & Gossett
- ITT Co., and Tour & Andersson. Hegberg is also active in ASHRAE's technical committees: TC 6.1 Steam & Hydronics, TC 8.10
Pumping & Piping, and TC 9.7 Testing & Balancing.
Dan Holohan
is the industry's foremost expert on hydronic heating. He is the author of a dozen popular books relating to the
hydronic heating industry. His monthly columns appear in Plumbing & Mechanical, Contractor, PM/Engineer, Oilheating, and
Supply House Times magazines.
Tim Kensok
is the Vice President of Market Development for AirAdvice, Inc., a Portland, Oregon-based provider of building
performance diagnostic equipment and services. His expertise in this fi eld focuses on HVAC markets and systems, sustainability,
and indoor environmental controls. He has conducted extensive research into the performance of commercial buildings and
the entire value chain from manufacturers through building owners to tenants. At present, his work is focused on developing
improved processes and building new channels for delivering energy services to the market.
John Koontz
currently serves as MCAA's National Director for Project Management and Advanced Supervisory Education.
A former tenured associate professor in Purdue University's Department of Building Construction Management, he served
as Purdue's Mechanical Construction Management Coordinator. He has been teaching since 1992 and brings a balance of
academic and practical experience to his courses. Koontz spent 15 years in the employment of MCAA contractors in a variety
of positions including senior project manager, project manager, project engineer, and estimator. He is the director of the MCAA
Institute for Project Management at the University of Texas in Austin, and has just completed a term on the Mechanical Contracting
Foundation's Board of Trustees. In addition to traveling the country to support MCAA's National Education Initiative, Koontz
remains active in continuing education, research and writing in the area of mechanical contracting, and MCAA Student
Chapter development.
Josh M. Leavitt
is a partner at K&L Gates, where he litigates, arbitrates and mediates a wide variety of construction and real estate
claims some of which include defective design & construction, delays, liens, contract & lease terminations, extra work, change
orders, and fraud to name a few. Mr. Leavitt represents owners, design professionals, contractors, manufacturers and tenants
in private contracting disputes, public project disputes and government investigations. His cases have involved one of the
world's tallest buildings, oil refi neries, high-technology processing plants, a prominent sports stadium and a high-rise building
whose design received international acclaim. Mr. Leavitt lectures nationwide on construction and design law topics and was
in the 2009 and 2010 Best Lawyers in America in Construction Law. He received his B.A. from Yale University and his J.D. from
New York University School of Law.
