NEW from MCA of Chicago’s Emerging Leaders Initiative 2019
Learning Labs

If you’re 45 and under, take your professional development to the next level in 2019 with a series of small group meet ups called “Learning Labs” that focus on discussing common leadership issues.

Q: What will this series look like?
There will be a number of Learning Labs held in 2019, each focusing on a different area of professional development. Similar to a book club, there will be a brief (30 minutes or less) online video or audio attendees could see/listen to before coming to the event which will provide a foundation for the discussion. The video may be available via LinkedIn Learning (linkedin.com/online-training) or another online platform.

Q: What is LinkedIn Learning?
LinkedIn Learning is an online library of video courses through LinkedIn that are taught by industry experts in technology, creative and business skills. Generally, courses range from a few minutes to a few hours of instruction and teach skills like BIM software training or body language for leaders.

Q: LinkedIn Learning is a paid subscription service. How does this work?
In order to watch the LinkedIn Learning videos, participants must first have a LinkedIn account. LinkedIn Learning subscribers receive their first month free, and a subscription is $29.99 per month. MCA of Chicago will reimburse Learning Lab attendees from member companies at each Learning Lab for the cost of one month’s subscription. Q: Who will benefit from LinkedIn Learning Labs?
Topics and a corresponding video will be unveiled prior to each Learning Lab. Each specific professional development area will have a certain audience that will directly benefit from the issues discussed, but information presented will be relevant to all Emerging Leaders (age 45 and under). Member companies and their CEOs will benefit from continued professional development of their young talent.

Q: What is the Emerging Leaders Initiative?
The Mechanical Contractors Association of Chicago’s Emerging Leaders Initiative was created to foster long-lasting networks between young industry leaders (45 years old or younger) and trusted industry partners/vendors, identify problems and create solutions for issues relevant to the next generation of our industry, and assist in the development of the industry’s young talent.

About the Emerging Leaders Section
The Emerging Leaders Section is comprised of MCA of Chicago members and selected Trusted Industry Partners who are 45 or under and who wish to play a key role in shaping how our industry will transform. Those who participate in the Emerging Leaders Section will have a passion for discussing industry problems and devising potential solutions, will be interested in sharing and adapting new technologies to revolutionize the state of the industry, and are comfortable networking with others in similar roles across different companies.

Why should I participate in the Emerging Leaders Section?
The Emerging Leaders Section is a chance for younger industry professionals to enhance their capacity to work strongly and smartly. You will:

          1. Learn more about our profession in a comfortable environment.
          2. Network with people your age in the business.
          3. Connect with established industry leaders.
          4. Design and access educational opportunities for your career stage.
          5. Engage with relevant cutting-edge products and services.

Who is eligible to participate in Emerging Leaders Events?

          • If you are an employee of an MCA member company and are 45 or under, you are automatically invited to participate! Get on the list and sign up for event updates by emailing emergingleaders@mca.org.
          • In an effort to build long-lasting networks and foster an exchange of ideas between young industry leaders and suppliers, individuals who meet our Emerging Leaders criteria and hail from industry supplier companies may be considered for inclusion as a Trusted Industry Partner (TIP). To be invited to participate, a potential TIP must be first recommended by an MCA member whom they know and trust. Potential TIPs will then be considered and notified if approved to join.
