Lean Construction Institute Presents: Lean for Schedule Recovery in Post-COVID Environment

July 2 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am CDT

This webinar will present topics, ideas and methods to reclaim schedule in the post-COVID environment as well as attaining high levels of productivity in a time of physical distancing. Participants will learn how to combine elements of Last Planner System® with proven production methods of the Toyota Production System.

Learning Objectives

  • See how rapid changeover from one trade to the next (single-minute-exchange-of-dies as the Lean term SMED). It currently takes a tradesperson up to 30 minutes to begin installing work at a new location, we are trimming that time more than 80% to less than 5 minutes.
  • Expand the concept of available backlog and constraint clearing from LPS® (Heijunka “load leveling” as Lean term). It is more important than ever to have multiple options for trade workers.
  • See how 5S (the Lean term for industrial organization) for visual controls that have always made sites safer, being applied to create better adherence to physical distancing.
  • Learn how to use Visual Management to increase the speed of the Plan-Do-Check-Adjust loop. The rate at which we learn is directly proportional to the speed of our PDCA loop. Participants will learn several methods that they can use independently or in combination.
  • Experience (learn-by-doing) ways to use Lean tools via Virtual Collaboration – and in some cases achieve greater success than with good old sticky-notes.
