National S.T.E.M./S.T.E.A.M. Day

November 8, 2018

Volunteers Needed!

Each year, schools around the country focus on promoting S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) education and careers to their students. Before the mechanical industry can hire quality workers, students need to know that these careers exist. To raise awareness of them, MCA of Chicago’s Career Development Committee needs your help giving presentations to Chicago area K–12 students!

What You Can Do

  • Sign up to give a classroom presentation. It can be a single presentation 30 minutes long or a series program of presentations to fill the whole day— whatever fits your schedule.
  • Suggest a location that works for you. Do you have a child enrolled in school where you would like to present? Would you prefer to present at a school close to your home, office or a project site? Let us know!
  • Read through the prep materials. MCA of Chicago will provide you with a script, helpful tips and discussion points for your presentation, even materials and directions for hands-on experiments. We’ll take care of everything, including contacting the school and its faculty.
  • Show up on November 8! Help inspire the next generation of mechanical contractors face-to-face. Your help on National S.T.E.A.M. Day could be the spark that drives students towards careers in our industry!
